About St Julian's School
Founded in 1932, we are a highly successful, non-selective 3-18 British international school with a reputation for academic excellence. We currently have just over 1,200 students from over 50 different nationalities. The School has three sections: Primary, Secondary, and Portuguese. There are currently 140 students in the Portuguese Section.
The school is accredited by CIS (Council of International Schools), NEASC (New England Association of Schools and Colleges), COBIS (Council of British International Schools) and our Head is an International Member of HMC (Heads' Conference).
About the role
We are looking for a self-motivated and proactive person who is passionate about structured, innovative and effective communications and would like to work in a fast-paced communications department.
As a Social Media & Communications Assistant, you will report to the Communications & Development Director and work closely with the Communications Officer, the rest of the Administrative Support Team, and the Leadership Team to define, implement and control the best community Social media and communication strategies and messages across all community communications channels.

Key responsibilities
- Support the school and departments in communicating through social media
- Collaborate in updating and developing new strategies for our Website and Alumni platform
- Use analytics tools to gauge the success of the posts, campaigns and platforms
- Prepare reports on campaigns and results based on analytics.
- Research industry innovations and tools that may optimise the department's work
- Update posts to include relevant keywords for search engine optimisation. And collaborate to improve the SEO presence of the school in search engines.
- Support the Communication Department's efforts in the different communication channels, formats and platforms and seek to innovate continuously in the way we communicate the school both internally and externally.
Core duties
- Coordinating and working in close collaboration with key team members from all school sections.
- Develop creative and impactful social media and digital approaches to communicate structured messages.
- Creating compelling stories to current stakeholders and interested parties.
- Collaborate in implementing new communication formats across different channels.
- Implementing the best social media communications.
Person specifications
- 2 to 3 years experience in social media communication and marketing
- Excellent communication skills and Experience in delivering impactful, well-structured messages and stories
- Excellent communication skills (both written and oral) in English and Portuguese
- Good photographic and video skills to source our communications is a plus, as well as Graphic design experience (photoshop, illustrator, or similar tools)
Other Requirements
- Strong organisational and time management skills, ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Team worker and collaborative with strong interpersonal skills
- A dynamic, goal-oriented and open-minded personality who is used to working autonomously but can manage multiple people in a multicultural and international environment
- Strong knowledge of Google suite tools, including Forms, Sheets, Slides, and Documents;
- Excellent writing skills, primarily in English but also in Portuguese
- Excellent office tools /google suite
